Green "gunpowder" from China
A classic in green tea with leaves rolled like small balls. Gunpowder is produced in Zhejiang province of China. It is said that the tea has got its English name because the tea looks like gunpowder. In Chinese, Gunpowder is called the zhu cha, which means 'pearl tea' or 'pearl string tea'.
The tea leaves are first lightly dried, then steamed, rolled and then dried. The finished beverage has a yellow color. Extremely suitable both clean and in mixtures.
Taste
The taste is thick and strong like soft honey, as well as slightly smoked with an aftertaste that is a bit copper-like.
Brewing
Gunpowder is an organic green tea and must therefore be treated with care to obtain the most optimal taste. It is recommended to use 1 teaspoon of loose tea leaves for every 150 ml of water. The ideal tea water temperature for this type of tea is 80 degrees. For the first and second extractions, the tea leaves should draw approx. 3 minutes.
What is green tea
Green tea is what you call "the original" tea, the unfermented, natural product that, after roasting and drying, is heat treated so that no tea leaves are oxidized. It has an effect on the color of the tea which becomes significantly lighter and also on the taste which becomes significantly lighter compared to the black tea.
Green tea has a limited content of caffeine and tannins.
